One of a Kind show Toronto March 2012

Today we visited the One of a Kind Show Toronto for the first time...I had always been meaning to go but never got around it - it was well worth the trip. The amount of talent in one room is overwhelming - some pretty cool stuff - art, craft, fashion and food - all nicely separated into specific zones in one large room.

There was one jewellery maker who just blew me away - BIKO Jewellery. I am not drawn to pretty things - in fact I like them ugly, industrial and edgy, and her pieces were just the right combination. Each piece was better than the next....I hope she didn't see me drooling on her display cases. Here are some pics from her website and blog. The chain with the multiple vertical rods in the second pic is the one I wanted the most among everything else I pined for.

The next One of a Kind show is in November 2012 for Christmas and I am considering participating as a vendor - BIG dream but one can dream right? !!

I have been working hard on creating illustrations for the screen printing run we did a couple of days ago. I was very pleased with the way the gold paint looks on both black & white. I just love metallic colors and you will be seeing a lot more gold in the shop. What do you think of the tee - let me know your thoughts.

Trend spotting: Bolo Tie

I am starting a new feature called 'Trend Spotting' and will feature what I notice as upcoming trends. Today I want to mention the 'BOLO TIE'. I have spotted it in several blogs and on the runways. My favorite Fashion babe Ashley makes it look so cool...

So of course I have been on the look out for one. Last Saturday we went Goodwill Hunting and I spotted this Bolo Tie - I swear I nearly died............of course I picked it up !ONE - it was a design I didn't expect to find in Goodwill but more in Planet Blue or Spanish Moss and TWO it was for CAD 3/- only. I mean seriously what are the odds.

Me so happy with my Bolo Tie. I love that its got a tan leather cord - it matches my tan boots. Am wearing it around the house today............
