Weekend Jaunts - Kortright center

We visited the Kortright Center for the Maple Syryp Festival and took out a pic outside the Sugar Bush Shop. It was a great expedition and the kids totally enjoyed the Easter Egg hunt, Pony cart rides and the Reptilia demo - how excited they get when they see snakes !!! my kids!! Shout out to my friend Margo for taking us there.................it was awesome!

Been trying out various options for styling the photo shoot...I wanted the pic to tell a story about me so all the elements you see on the table are definitely an expression of moi! I am sort of a cross between Bohemian + Cowgirl + Native American + Rocker + Moroccan (hence the rug) throw in bones, top hats and chunky jewellery too! The graphite sketch in the back is my second assignment at school . I definitely cannot put it in one word so I came up with two words - SPARROW LYN !!!

Handmade Pyrite Necklace - soon to be launched in Etsy Shop

I am soon to launch my handmade Jewellery in SparrowLyn and thought I would give you a sneak peek of the pieces I am working on now. I have always been tinkering with jewellery - making something longer....adding pieces to a necklace or bracelet. I remember in school I used bolts for earrings and strung them with beads for necklaces. I am very excited about this line and call it the `Flight Path` collection comprising natural stones, industrial hardware and mixed metals.

Our Coach

Our dog Coach after a makeover! He is the most patient dog I have ever seen with the bestest temperament. The girls are constantly dressing him up but somehow he manages to maintain his cuteness!

 Serious love for this jacket....just look at the detailing - the rolled fringe, bone on the sleeves, the buttons. Everything about this jacket is incredible - almost makes me want to keep it for myself! Just loaded in the shop today along with many other items - pop over to take a look!

We were at a family party on the weekend at Professor`s Lake and I got to wear my pleather pants again. I kid you not - I have worn it to every party since I bought it. I love them so! 

Inspiration Board

My new work space needed an Inspiration Board (I can be quite a magpie like that) where I could pin  beautiful things for when I am dreaming & creating. Last weekend the husband and I got together to make this for me.

Frame with original print in it - isn't the print so pretty!

I got the frame from Moveline Liquidation for CAD 6/-, the fabric was a curtain from the local Goodwill store, and the pearls were a necklace from the local dollar store. Total cost of Memo board is 9/- !! It is a good sized board at 33 x 27 inches which gives me much space to put up stuff.

Ta Da ! I love it so ! 

Do you see my new biz card pinned to it? Can you see the little crochet baby clothes? I had picked those in Bahrain for making a custom 'Baby' type card but they were so cute I ended up keeping them for myself.

We put a layer of dacron under the fabric to give a tufted look & feel. I love the color of the frame - it has the look of antique gold with a grey patina in the grooves. Moveline has some great furniture and frames and if you ever need a piece to reupholster check them out first.

Vistaprint does a great job of biz cards and delivery time is pretty quick too. I was very happy with the way they turned out....aren't they adorabl? I love them !!!

New uploads in Sparrow Lyn Shop - April 2012

With Spring here I have uploaded many pretty Spring dresses in the shop. They seem perfect for that family Brunch party, outdoor Summer wedding or even when you decide to go Antiquing all by yourself. Talking about antiquing I am just dying to to the Mile-long yard sale in Alabama. Gosh what a treat that would be.....some day...some day soon!

Gosh have you guys discovered PINTEREST - it is the funnest way to waste time in hours but what a treat! It is a visual feast for the eyes if you are like me - design obsessed ! Went to our quarterly Art group meet up on Sunday and wore one of my tees which the girls all loved. We had such a good time..talking about art, school and gorging on pizza. Margaret - thanks for having us over. You guys rock!
