Launch of my WEBSITE !!! woot woot !!

I am so excited and over the moon to share this news with you. I finally have my own WEBSITE:

Since I started the biz in early 2011 I have been waiting to set up my website to house the links to my shop and blog all in one place. And its finally here................sipping my martini while I do my happy dance. So I invite you to dance with me at my virtual party for this HUGE step in the growth of my small business.

Just earlier this week I sent an email out to my family and close friends and received so much support and well wishes back, it was truly heart warming. Thank you so much guys for all your support, its so nice to know that so many out there have my back. Virtual Hugs coming back to ya!

Rebel in Action

I have been playing around with the new camera - Rebel T3i - in my free time, and have figured out all the modes with some success (I think!). Now I just need to practice as much as I can till I have got this mastered. My poor dog is fed up of posing for me.......sorry Coach !

What do you think? It is a definite upgrade from the pics taken by my old camera but lots to learn still. I have to get round to doing some outfit posts which I have promised myself I will get to next week. The weather is climbing to single digit positives - just the motivation I need.

Yay ! finally invested in a new camera for my biz. I had one for the last 14 years and the handy old thing was doing all my shop pics but desperately felt the need for a new one. So we bit the bullet and ordered the Canon Rebel T3i............isn't that a cool name? Rebel T3 ! makes me feel cool too.

The hubby downloaded all these 'how to' videos and have been watching and playing with the camera for the last few days. Figured out all the modes and filters. Now going onto the lessons on how to record - yup its records video too.

The above close up is a shot with the new Rebel. I still have to try it out with the macro lens which we had but I broke (oops) so have to get a new one. So expect to see lots more pics of me in my outfits and photos around the office and studio.

When I am sketching at home I keep Pinterest open on another screen and everytime I need a break, I just flip to it and peruse the many inspiring images. I do love Pinterest, I used to save my favorite images in folders on my computer - now its there for everyone to see and I can access it from anywhere. Where did my shop name come from?

Many people have asked me where my shop name came from?
Being in the corporate world for 18 years (most of which in Management) I was expected to behave a certain way, dress a certain way, set an example, etc etc. Then after quitting 18 years later, I felt FREE....like I could do whatever I wanted with my life. Dress the way I wanted (got my nose pierced straight after), talk the way I wanted (got a bit of a potty mouth on me), and study further (enrolled in an Art School). Most of all I wanted to work in Fashion and set up my own Online Clothing store....AND I DID.

Its like I have been 'Born Again'. And now I am discovering myself all over again....and liking what I discover.

So my shop name: SPARROW LYN
SPARROW - Free as a bird. Free to fly anywhere. Free to soar to any heights
LYN - That is half of my name...Lynda

And that is how Sparrow Lyn came about. I feel it is a true reflection of me, where I have come from and where I am going. Hope you like the name too.
